Big Breath

I'll tell you what . . . . . oh nevermind.

So it's been a ride the last few months. I didn't have a car, I didn't have a place to live, and the pre-school work was already underway. Then I get a car (a Prius), a house to rent with two fine ladies (Jackie and Sara), and four days later I get 75 students.

Then Lindsey was here (thank the Lord), and my life was crazy but good for a time, and just as quickly she left again.

My students have been crazy, but they're all awesome kids. Some days are frustrating, but that's usually because they're so immature, bizzare and funny that I laugh nervously with no idea what to do. This weekend is my last chance to square grades away, so that's why I'm at home alone this Saturday night - grading tests and make-up assignments.

Today I drove to Farmville, North Carolina to be the seventh person (by my count) to taste a fine new beverage: the Duck-Rabbit Brewery's Rabbid-Duck Russian Imperial Stout. It was chocholaty and thick, and 10 percent alcahol. Hoo-ha!

My soccer season ended well with a 6-5-1 record. In the end, it chewed up a ton of time, but was a great experience and really gave me something to enjoy at the end of the day. Our best win was against Southern Nash Middle who beat us hard the first time around. The second time we took them for a run, playing the best game of soccer I've ever witnessed. I'm not a guy who takes sports very seriously, or gets very passionate about games. But this was something else. I tasted the sweet flavor of a hard victory well-earned.

It's been a trip, and will continue to be so. I'm out.

I'm pretty sure your entire half of the country doesn't take anything seriously, especially sports.
