The Dark Side

I've fallen far this weekend. Further than I ever thought possible in a single days time.

I got a Mac.

And an iPod.

I had a pit in my stomach yesterday that was bigger than the time I realized I'd left my fly open in front of my students. It was bad. It happened right as I began downloading music from my hosts computer over the wirless network, and I suddenly realized that I could very easily go without ever burning the music to a disk. That my love for the sounds therein might never take a physical form I could hold close to my chest and covet.

So here I am, typing my newest update from my Mac, on a wireless network, and listening to tunes from my newly stolen collection on my iPod.

And I am a sellout.

In other news, I have been back in North Carolina for about a week now. I'm currently staying with two incredibly awesome guys, Brad and Brock (Mr. Jacobson and Mr. Grubb), whose tastes in music, beer, and 'chill' are impeccable.

I have no place to live yet. My perspective housemate, Wren, is awaiting the final word that she'll be teaching in this county. If she doesn't, I will be seeking other lodgings on my own. If her position here does work out, we have picked out a most excellent country home outside of town. It's a two story home built in 1920, and newly renovated for rental by the owner who lives on the same property and runs a nursery.

Also, it seems I'll be coaching boys soccer this year. From what I understand through Brad (who incedentaly coaches at a rival school), my team has quite a legacy of domination to uphold. No pressure.

Hopefully, this entry marks a return to a bit of frequency to my journalling. No garauntees.

PS, totally sweet that you coach soccer.

I didn't know you played soccer. Or is this going to be like when I was in high school and the football coach had to teach something, so they gave him freshman english?

Ha, I met with my athletic director today, and I found out I might be driving the bus, too . . .

I'm not sure that's the proper use of the word sellout. I think you're more like a "buyout".

The only role left for you at the school is probably a cafeteria worker.

I'd say we're still in the 'once in a blue moon' category. Let's go Andy, get your act together!

Andy, I read your thoughts of November 2003 on Steven Davies. I have a case with him now and question his involvement and actual interest in the case besides just settling at my loss. My position is strong and don't understand why the lax approach on his part. What attorney did you end up with? Was your out come better? I am having thoughts of replacing Steven Davies.

Thanks

Alan, I actually had Davies as a landlord, not a lawyer. In that context he pretty well fell short of 'caring' since any time we called about the house he seemed more annoyed by us than anything else. We ended up just going through his secretary for anything we needed - she basically managed the house for him. Even down to depositing the rent checks.
